Founded in 1963, Xcel Controls, Inc. began by fabricating electrical control panels for steel mills and various automotive part suppliers. The use of programmable controllers in panels became widespread and Xcel saw the need for an easier programming tool and created UP/DOC software. They then started building industrial computers for use in the harsh environment of the shop floor. In April 1992 they began shipping "Tower Lights" controllers, a new state-of-the-art tower lighting controller that followed the strict new FAA requirements.

After 45 proud years manufacturing products for the automation control industry, Xcel Controls, Inc. in Mishawaka, Indiana has closed its doors.  Xcel developed many unique control systems during its history and provided excellent products and service to its customers.

We are pleased to announce that one of those products, the CPS family of lighting control systems for communication towers, will remain in production.  Coye Brook Group LLC, located in central New York, has acquired the Xcel brand name, patents, and other related assets and will continue to manufacture the CPS tower lighting controls. These will be marketed under the trade name XCEL TOWER CONTROLS.

Rest assured that the Xcel products you currently have for tower lighting will continue to be supported with a full inventory of spare parts. Xcel’s CPS line of lighting controls, universally recognized for its dependability and robust design, is being produced using the latest wave soldering techniques to ensure the highest quality.
